HOW DO I IMPLEMENT A NEW TABLEAU LICENSE KEY?

Once you have accessed your customer portal and have your Tableau license key, follow these steps to activate each copy of Tableau desktop.

STEP 1: Open Tableau Desktop, access the HELP menu, and choose ‘Manage Product Keys’.

STEP 2: Click ‘Activate’ and enter your product key. Click ‘Activate’ on the new window.

STEP 3: Complete. Your license is now activated and your maintenance renewal date will be displayed.

 Finding Product Key for Previously Installed Tableau Software

1. On any window in Tableau Desktop, select Help from the top toolbar.

2. Select Manage Product Keys…

3. The Manage Product Key window opens and displays licensing information.

4. Record the Product Key value and keep it someplace safe for future reference.

New Install Steps for Upgraded Tableau Desktop Software (CSDS Supported Machines Only)

New versions of Tableau Desktop client are pushed by CSDS to machines in the Tableau collection. The BICC will send notices before and after the new file has been distributed to user PC’s.

BEFORE THE UPGRADE

1. Complete Finding Product Key for Previously Installed Tableau Software in previous steps shown above. Keep the Product Key in a safe place.

AFTER THE UPGRADE

2. Open the new version of Tableau Desktop from either your Desktop or your Start Menu.

3. The Activate Tableau window will open.

5. Enter your Product Key recorded in previous steps.

6. Click Activate.

7. Complete the Registration form with your First Name, Last Name, Organization (use department), and Purdue Career Account Email.

8. Click Register when complete.

9. Click Continue to open the new version of Tableau Desktop software.
